Today I am going to tell you about two different kinds of wrinkles and two simple lifestyle fixes to avoid the first one is expression wrinkles. These occur because of everyday expressions and facial muscle contortions repeatedly over and over again for a few seconds or a few minutes every day.
and the second one is the sleep wrinkles. but what are sleep wrinkles? These are the wrinkles caused by skin rips and sheers those ligaments under your skin and you also lose all that skincare serums moisturizers to your regular pillowcases.
if I told you to know purposely squish and tug your face for about a minute or so to invite wrinkles I am guessing you would reject that invite. but what if I tell you that you are doing just that to your face for an extended period of seven to eight hours every night.
now what starts as temporary folds and creases soon turns into permanent wrinkles and this kind of damage actually starts much early in life. I had always heard about silk pillowcases but then recently I came across “sleep & glow” the modern anti-age pillow and I instantly had to try the see if this really works.
This pillow is designed by a cosmetologist and orthopedist it claims to minimize skin distortions when you sleep. let’s understand how. on a regular pillow even if you sleep facing up which is the recommended sleep position you can develop wrong posture and unwanted deep wrinkles on your neck.
if you sleep on your side, it is even worse. your face and neck skin are both distorted now let me explain my experience. This pillow has this elastic-like memory foam which is very different from the dated memory foam that I was introduced to maybe 10 years ago.
it supports the shape of my face without squishing it. now if you notice it has this side pocket to support your head when you’re sleeping sideways so your head rests perfectly but your facial skin does not distort.
It really supports my head and neck for better posture even in my sleep and I noticed that change during the first night with this pillow. Now in the head area, it is shaped to cradle my head to push the wrinkles away.
When I sleep on my side not just my face but even my neck wrinkles don’t develop. These deep lines on your neck don’t develop! It is shaped to fit your face and shoulders to maintain a healthy posture and avoid these neck wrinkles.

The more expressive we are, the more likely we are to get them at an early age. whether you smile a lot get angry too much or worry too much you are bound to make facial expressions that contort your face.
whatever your facial movement habits the long-term consequences are always the same.. wrinkles! Now, you cannot stop expressing but how about you change your facial muscle habits to change the consequences.
this is why I have been practicing facial yoga for the last many years and I am currently developing a complete eight-week face yoga master class because I know that face yoga works. some women attempt to consciously stop raising their eyebrows or squinting or frowning but that is very difficult if not impossible.
in fact, I think it is great to express when you’re talking to someone. It adds so much character to you and your personality. Try to be more conscious when you don’t need to express and invite these facial folds.
Like the “Netflix face”. when you are Netflix and chilling for hours, your face can surely be stuck in one expression for a long time hence the term “Netflix face”. Talking about lifestyle fixes to get rid of wrinkles, I think this is the most common one.
Here, if you don’t know what a Netflix face is take a look at this. Repeatedly making expressions can cause the collagen in your skin to break down in that area. Over time the skin loses its elasticity and begins to form lines and wrinkles.
it’s similar to folding a piece of paper. The more times you fold it, the more prominent the crease becomes. Now one of the face exercise in my series of face yoga is “face tapping”. The skin cells need good circulation to heal and tapping stimulates that blood circulation which is linked to collagen production.
Skin tapping also gives your skin that flushed natural glow. So, with clean hands, follow these six tapping pathways each for about 30 seconds. Remember to tap with the same kind of pressure that you would use to check the radiator of your hair straightener or a hot pan.
Starting between the brows, tap up the center of the forehead around the hairline and down all the way to your temples. Your middle finger has the best pressure to perform a Face tap. Next, tap against the inner eye socket area moving outwards, below the eye socket, and then up to your temples.
Now, next start tapping from the sides of your nostril following up to your cheekbones until you reach the temples. Next, tap along your upper lip, outwards across your lower cheeks up to your ears. Afterward, start tapping from the center of your chin down along your jawline up to your ears.
Finally, stimulate the nerves in your neck and Décolletage area. Start under your chin following the center of your throat downwards towards your chest. finish tapping along your collarbones overall.
it helps me de-stress fight wrinkles and sleep better. with all the new stay-at-home life and planning new routines and pressures of creating a brand new curriculum I use face tapping to ease tension. It is just one of the exercises from my extremely effective face yoga series.

By any chance, I am not recommending that you stop using your skincare products. These techniques are just an addition to taking care of your skin at home because your skincare products alone cannot do everything to support your skin maintenance.
Water also plays a very important role in minimizing your wrinkles. Not drinking enough pure water makes your skin puffy and it can even lead to bloating. You may even develop skin disorders like eczema psoriasis dry skin wrinkles and spots.
A simple colorless liquid like water does absolute good to your body which most of us are not even aware of even in this modern life. I actually have a confession to make, I haven’t gone to a spa to get a facial done in years because frankly, I believe that there are multiple ways we can all take care of our skin at home.
Be it face yoga, face mask, DIY facial, or a ton of products out there in the market that is made to take care of your skin staying at home and I have a big believer in it. With the current situation of Covid- 19, we cannot step out to experience that pampering facial.
